Harry Potter is a series of seven fantasy novels written by British author J. K. Rowling. There is probably only a few people in the world that never heard of the young wizard Harry Potter and his adventures with schoolmates Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger, all of whom are students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

The main story arc concerns Harry’s quest to defeat the Dark wizard Lord Voldemort, who aims to become immortal, conquer the wizarding world, subjugate non-magical people, and destroy all those who stand in his way, especially Harry Potter. There’s no more obvious testament to the wizarding world’s enduring legacy than J.K. Rowling herself, the author who has so much left to give to fans who are always eager to hear more.

Here are the 13 things about Harry Potter that J.K Rowling never mentioned before.

A book character Myrtle Elizabeth Warren, more commonly known after death as Moaning Myrtle, was a Muggle-born witch who attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from 1940 – 1943 and was sorted into Ravenclaw house. She was killed in 1943 by Salazar Slytherin’s Basilisk, under Lord Voldemort’s (Tom Riddle) orders.

Shirley Henderson, the actress who played Moaning Myrtle was 37 years old at the time “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” was filmed. She is the oldest actress to ever portray a Hogwarts student.
